SHAH ALAM June 5: The appointment of Datuk Saifuddin Nasution Ismail as the Political Liaison Officer in the Chief Minister’s Office is seen to be able to help the State Government in implementing the Pakatan Rakyat manifesto which was presented during the recent 13th General Election (GE-13).

Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the State Government has the power to appoint any individual who is qualified to help ensure the success of State Government efforts.

“There is no need to discuss (explain) what is being done by the State Government to find individuals who have the ability of implementing the manifesto which we presented in the GE-13,” he said in a press conference after chairing the Selangor Exco Meeting here at the State Government Office.

Abdul Khalid added that the State Government will hold a meeting with Saifuddin together with the State Economic Planning Unit (UPEN) next week to discuss efforts to increase rural development which will be spearheaded by the PKR Secretary General.

Saifuddin’s appointment was announced by the PKR De Facto Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at the party’s 9th Congress in Petaling Jaya last month.

At the same time, he said, the issue of PAS and SAP demands for positions equivalent to Saifuddin’s will be discussed at the meeting.
