KUALA LUMPUR, July 11: The Inspector General of the Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar has been urged to immediately disclose the results of police investigations on the impermanent indelible ink used in the 13th General Election (GE-13).

Until 3 June, the police have received 1,469 complaints regarding the indelible ink across the country.

In relation to that, Bukit Katil Member of Parliament, Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin said that Khalid should announce to the public the findings and action should be taken.

“The basic question that I want to raise is, because there were many reports, I would like to ask the IGP, with this huge volume, has no investigations been carried out,” asked the AMK chief.

Prior to this, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim revealed in the House of Representatives that the cost of the indelible ink used in the GE-13 was RM7.1 million.

The cost increased by three times compared to the GE-12 in 2008.

In the meantime, Shamsul Iskandar claimed that the Home Affairs Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been evading the issue and denied that there was no police disturbance towards those who wanted to lodge reports on the indelible ink at police stations.

Shamsul said that Zahid stated that the police did not receive any information regarding disturbances.

Whereas, various media have revealed how people had to undergo different procedures when they wanted to file police reports regarding the ink.
