KUIS to become an Islamic University in Three Years

BANGI, July 31: The Selangor Islamic University College (KUIS) aims to become an Islamic University within the next three years.

KUIS Rector, Assoc Prof Datuk Dr Ab Halim Tamuri said, meanwhile, the number of students for 2014 will be increased to 6,000 students.

“To achieve the target, we will offer Postgraduate Programmes like Masters and Doctorate Degrees through the graduate school which will be reactivated.

“KUIS will open offers after receiving approval from the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), which is part of the 46 programmes offered,” he said.

He said this during the Sultan of Selangor Iftar with the People, and the Hari Raya Contribution Presentation here at the JUIS Al-Azhar Mosque.

At the same event, the Selangor Zakat Board (LZS) received business zakat amounting to RM936,454.77 from the Darul Ehsan Group Berhad (KDEB) and RHB Islamic Bank Berhad.

DYMM the Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah consented to accept the zakat.

KDEB, represented by its President, Suhaimi Kamaralzaman performed the business zakat on behalf of KDEB and its subsidiaries amounting to RM826,455.77.

Meanwhile, RHB Islamic Bank Berhad was represented by its Director, Datuk Faizal Siraj who performed the business zakat amounting to RM110,000.

Meanwhile, at the same event, the Sultan of Selangor also consented to present Hari Raya contributions to 37 fakir (Poor) students, 115 miskin (needy) students and 100 asnaf converts who received a contribution of RM400 per person.

Also present was the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, the Selangor State Secretary, Datuk Mohamed Khusrin Munawi and Datuk Seri Utama Direja Mufti Selangor, Datuk Setia Mohd Tamyes Abdul Wahid.
