Selangor to Build 10 Sharia Courts

SHAH ALAM, July 4: The State Government has allocated RM160.59 million to build 10 Sharia Courts in Selangor, said Exco for Islamic Affairs, Agricultural Modernisation and Rural Development, Sallehen Mukhyi.

“The 10 locations include the Sultan Idris Shah Court Building which is located adjacent to the Islamic Religious Department (Jais) and the State Mosque,” he said.

He said this in his winding up speech in the Sultan’s address debate today at the Selangor State Assembly (DNS).

Sallehen added that the State Government together with the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (Mais) in currently in action to set up the Ampang Sharia Subordinate Court.

“The proposal is currently being prepared,” he said.

In the meantime, he also informed that the State Government is in the process of creating a land acquisition act for mosques, suraus and cemeteries.

“To date, the process of mosque land gazetting have been completed and some still not. We will oversee till the process is completed,” he said.
