KOTA KINABALU, 20 Sept: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim suggested for Datuk Seri Najib Razak to also come forward to testify to the Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) regarding giving identification cards to foreigners.

The Opposition Leader said that Najib’s presence is necessary to unravel questions surrounding the IC project which took place during Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s era.

“If I can attend and testify before the RCI, Najib should do the same. At least we can hear and ask about questions that have arisen.

“We gave space to our friends to tell the truth, this space should be taken by Najib and he can explain. Everyone wants to hear,” he said at a press conference at the Sabah PKR Liaison Office yesterday.

He testified for two hours in front of the RCI at the Kota Kinabalu Court Complex.

In his testimony, Anwar was cited by Harakah Daily as denying that he was involved in the granting of ICs in Sabah when he was in the cabinet.

“I am talking about the existence of a task force under the NSC (National Security Council) to that carried out political-style duties, giving identity cards to illegal immigrants for political gain,” he said.
