SHAH ALAM, 16 SEPT: Close cooperation between PKR, PAS and DAP in Pakatan Rakyat has become a powerful formula which has led to the increase in seats in Selangor, said Khalid Samad.

“In Selangor, it is clear that PAS has substantially gained from the existence of Pakatan Rakyat when our total win increased to 15 seats,” said the Member of Parliament for Shah Alam.

PAS’s win in seats in Selangor in the 13th General Election (GE-13) increased to 1 State Legislative Assembly seats compared to nine in GE-12.

Previously, Chief of the PAS Ulama Council, Datuk Harun Taib suggested for PAS to revise political cooperation (Tahaluf Siyasi) in Pakatan following claims that the party’s political influence is weakening.

However, the PAS Mursyidul Am, Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat said that the study is only to improve cooperation, rather than being for a purpose that is unfavourable to Pakatan.

Speaking to TV Selangor, Khalid said that those who think otherwise might be in reference to a differently reality, and certainly not in Selangor.

“Pakatan is not detrimental to PAS and if the review is being done, it is to improve and strengthen Pakatan,” said the Selangor PAS Deputy Commissioner.
