Employers Urged to Eliminate Discrimination

SHAH ALAM, September 14: All employers have been urged to eliminate discriminatory practices based on race, religion and gender.

Member of Parliament for Petaling Jaya Utara, Tony Pua, said that he was sad to see that there are companies that still practice discrimination policies in offering jobs.

He said this in response to media reports of Muslim women who were rejected job offers because they wear a hijab.

“The reason for such discrimination must be condemned and is unacceptable in a just, thoughtful, fair and non-discriminatory society is a priority.

Tony explained that job offers are just based on education, experience and skills. Thus, discriminatory policies cannot be allowed to take root and become a norm in this country.

“If a business can only achieve profitability based on discrimination of race, religion and gender, it would be better if the company stops operating in our country,” said Tony in his press statement.
