SHAH ALAM, 29 Sept: The Election Commission (EC) should be ready to accept criticism from all parties, including the People’s Tribunal, to uphold the interests of the people.

The EC’s reluctance to help in the People’s Tribunal investigations only reflects that the agency takes a stance that if favourable to Umno-BN.

The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Deputy President, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the EC should be brave and responsible for every criticism.

“The People’s Tribunal confirmed the issues previously raised by PKR and Pakatan Rakyat that a lot of fraud happened throughout the 13th General Election (GE-13).

“The EC should professionally examine it to restore public confidence as the agency which implement the election freely and fairly,” he told TVSelangor.

He also dismissed allegations by the Attorney General, Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail, who said that the tribunal was merely to seek publicity.

“It is not about highlighting the interests of any party. That is why I urged the EC to be open and hear criticisms from all parties, especially the people.

“The results of the GE-13 was filled with fraud and irregularities causing adverse impact to the world on the image of our country,” said the Selangor PKR Chairman.
