Contributions Stuck as Some Areas are Paralyzed due to Devastating Floods

GOMBAK, 7 Dec: The state government are in effort to get lorries from the Local Authorities, the Public Works Department and the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) to send necessities to flood victims in the East Coast.

The Executive Councillor in charge of Housing, Building Management and Squatters, Iskandar Samad, said that so far, donations from the public have been sent to halls, offices, suraus and mosques.

He said that the contribution has yet to be carried out because many areas around the state have been paralyzed due to the devastating floods that hit several areas.

“Discussions are underway with the Chief Minister to get lorries so that necessities such as food, which a lot has been collected, can immediately be delivered and we hope that this can be resolved as soon as possible.

“I thank the people of Selangor who are concerned by sending these contributions,” he said when met after launching the flood relief Flag Off today.

In the first Selangor PAS convoy group, over 50 cars and four lorries left for Pahang and Terengganu with food to be distributed to flood victims.

Iskandar, who is also the Selangor PAS Commissioner, said that the convoy was also accompanied by 100 cars, 30 lorries and a container which is already on-route to the aforementioned states since last night.

“About 200 personnel have been deployed in Pahang and Terengganu and we expect 80 to 100 tonnes of necessities to be sent there, in fact this might even increase if it is still not enough,” he said.
