Recipients of Senior Citizen’s Scheme Heartened to Receive Contributions

KUALA SELANGOR, 6 Dec: A total of 43 families from the Bukit Melawati State Legislative Assembly (DUN) received payments of the second phase of the Senior Citizen’s Scheme (SMUE) yesterday.

Recipient, Mohd Syahid Razali, 39, said that he is proud of the incentive in the form of a death benevolent fund provided by the state government.

He said that the contribution is meaningful to ease the burden of the people, especially those with low to middle income.

“I think that the RM2,500 received is adequate. I will use the money received for charity on behalf of my late father so that he continues to receive Pahala (reward from Allah) from charitable deeds,” he said.

Meanwhile, Azizah Kasim, 55, could not hold back her tears when asked how she felt to receive the scheme on behalf of her sister-in-law.

“Thank you to the state government for this welfare. At least the money received can be used to cover electricity bills or other needs,” she said.

The ceremony was inaugurated by the DUN Assistant Coordinator, Arshad Rashid Kassim, in addition to also being attended by the Coordinator of the Jeram State Legislative Assembly.

The second phase payment saw each recipient receiving RM1,500 and they each also received RM1,000 during the first phase payment.
