KUBANG SEMANG, 2 Feb: The PKR Leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, slammed the Umno leadership because he only wore the Selangor football jersey during the Friendly with Selangor Football Supporters yesterday.
“Even wearing the Selangor jersey has become a controversy for the Umno leadership.
“Our strategy is becoming. That is why it is hoped that all machinery will come down to the ground to ensure that Kajang stays with PR.
“Umno-BN must be restrained from continuing to manipulate the truth,” Anwar said during his explanation talk at Yayasan An-Nadhoh, Kubu Semang, yesterday.
Anwar said that his decision to contest in the Kajang State Legislative Assembly (DUN) by-election is because he wants to ward of attacks by Umno against Pakatan Rakyat and the Chief Minister of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim.
“Umno-BN is seriously monitoring the strength of Tan Sri Khalid as the Chief Minister of Selangor, along with the PR leadership.
“If left unchecked, the Selangor State Government leadership, led by Tan Sri Khalid, will continue to be attacked fiercely for four more years despite the many things he has done for the sake of the people,” he said, quoted from Keadilan Daily.
Anwar said that that currently, Umno is no longer looking into the needs and welfare of the people of Selangor. Instead, they are continuing to attack Pakatan.
He also said that attacks thrown at him, including from the former Prime Minister, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, proves how frightened Umno-BN is of Pakatan Rakyat’s strength.
“Mahathir also said that I was not qualified to be PM, only an CM. Pity Mahathir too, there are no longer any strong roads but to use Umno to attack me till this day,” he said.
