PPIM does not represent the Muslim community

By : Zuraida Kamaruddin

Salam Sejahtera.

I am aghast at PPIM over the offer of RM500 to slap Teresa Kok for a satirical video released during the Chinese New Year.

PPIM does not represent the Muslim community and the ‘offer’ is un-Islamic. No proper Muslim will encourage violence in the name of Islam as Islam is a religion of peace. This improper offer is an insult to the Muslims who do not advocate violence.

The prize money offered to encourage people to commit violence is something that should be charged as inciting hatred and threatening to the peace and harmony we enjoy as Malaysians.

In addition, humiliating another person by slapping them and then having it recorded is highly inappropriate. There are many other peaceful ways to resolve conflicts and people should not resort to violence under any circumstances.

Corruption and unjustified spending is not a racial issue. It is a matter of national interest as the national coffers belong to the citizens of Malaysia and not just a few ministers.

I am concerned that an increasing number of NGOs assuming the identity of a religious entity misuse religion as a tool to support violence and to strike fear into the people.

There is no need for this as there are proper channels to address such disagreements.

For RM500, is PPIM asking mild-mannered Muslim women to become aggressive and start slapping non-Muslims? For RM500 is PPIM asking Muslim men to engage physically with a woman? Is RM500 a sum to justify violence and religious malpractice?

PPIM is giving Islam a bad name. The proposed offer by PPIM is alarming and disturbing. I strongly urge PPIM to withdraw the RM500 offer to commit violence and apologize to all Muslims for the misinterpretation of Islam.
