Attempt to Attack Anwar, Highlights Aggression of BN Supporters

KAJANG, 23 Mar: The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, was almost attacked by a Barisan Nasional (BN) supporter when he was heading to the Sungai Sekamat Polling Station.

The PAS Election Director for the Kajang by-election, Dr Mohd Hatta Ramli, said that the attack happened when Anwar passing through a road.

“It happened suddenly without any reason, this individual rushed towards Anwar.

“BN supporters did not at all think about the feelings of the person who received a prison sentence, but only thought that their political power has eroded, to a point that they are willing to set the law aside and act violently.

“I and the Penang Deputy Chief Minister, who were with Anwar, were almost attacked,” said Dr Mohd Hatta when contacted by Selangor Kini today.

The attack is believed to be directed at Anwar, with attempt to punch and injure Anwar.

However, the violent act managed to be prevented by bodyguards, the police and the public who were in the area.

Dr Mohd Hatta also informed that the police did not arrest the individual.
