CM: BN ‘Mala Fide’ Against Anwar Destroys the Spirit of Cooperation

SHAH ALAM, 7 Mar: Cooperation between political coalitions which was announced by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, has been slashed following the five-year prison sentence against Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Describing the people as being victims of a childish political attitude, the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, slammed the injustice against Anwar as BN’s hypocrisy.

“As soon as the sentence was read, the National Reconciliation spirit announced by the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Abdul Razak, melted and drowned with the tide of hypocrisy.

“Clearly, this false spirit failed to be translated honestly, although the Opposition Leader responded with the National Consensus agenda,” he said in a statement tonight.

He described the government’s malicious move of only worsening the political situation of the country and the black moment reflects the narrow politics that led to private homicide.

“This black moment, without us realising, adds to the prejudices of proponents and supporters of KEADILAN, especially, and Pakatan Rakyat in general, against the Barisan Nasional government.

“Although we recognise that the people’s interests needs to be placed first, however oppression and ‘mala fide’ prosecution continues to make things difficult and messes up the space for political maturity even more,” he said.

Khalid urged for Anwar to be released from private persecution and urged BN to compete through politics via national development ideas and agenda.

“Malaysia should have reached political maturity and should be able to focus on national development agendas instead of dirty political attacks targeting the body of a leader,” he said.

Meanwhile, Abdul Khalid urged all parties to not be carried away by emotions and together handle the conspiracy against Anwar wisely.

“The people, especially supporters of Pakatan Rakyat, have been asked to calm down and not to be hasty in taking action. This planned conspiracy must be examined and addressed in a sensible and practical manner,” he said.
