Kajang By-Election: MPKj Failed to Maintain Drain, Selangor Kini Cameraman Injured

KAJANG, 24 Mar: Selangor Kini cameraman, Hanifi Mohamed, injured his left leg and right arm after falling into an uncovered drain when covering the Kajang by-election at the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) Sports Complex yesterday.

The incident occurred at about 9.30pm while Hanifi, 45, we recording the footage of the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) candidate, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, mingle and meet supporters after being declared the winner by the Election Commission (EC).

Based on information from colleague, Nazli Ibrahim, it is believed that the unfortunate cameraman fell into a two square foot hole which waist deep.

Following that, Hanafi was assisted by the police and the public before being taken to the hall to be treated by the medical team.

There was no other damage to his body, and his camera equipment is also in good condition.

Thorough information from the public, it was found that the drain was not maintained by the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) although it has been reported prior to this.
