Parliament: PR Suggests Establishing a Parliamentary Select Committee to Investigate MH370

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 Mar: Pakatan Rakyat proposed the motion to establish a Parliamentary Select Committee (PSC) to investigate all aspects relating to the disappearance of the MH370 aircraft.

The motion was proposed by the Member of Parliament for Seremban, Anthony Loke, as an amendment to the Agong motion of decree by the Member of Parliament for Johor Bahru, Tan Sri Shahrir Abdul Samad, under the standing order 26 (1) (a) and item 30 (1) recently.

In the motion, he also wanted the words such as “This noble House states full support for all search and rescue (SAR) operations in the MH370 missing aircraft case” to be included.

He said that the amendment shows a good example to other countries that the Malaysian Parliament is concerned about the matter.

“We can show that the Parliament can come together and transcend political differences. I hope that all Members of Parliament will agree and support this motion,” he said when debating the Agong’s decree.

At the same time, the President of the Dewan said that he is unable to make an immediate decision regarding the motion and needs to review the rules of the Dewan.

This is because the motion was brought up in a speech and not through specific bringing of motions.
