Bukit Gelugor Parliamentary By-Election, Nomination May 12, Voting May 25

PUTRAJAYA, 24 Apr: The Malaysian Election Commission (EC) has set for the Bukit Gelugor Parliamentary by-election, with the nomination, to be held on May 12, while the voting day has been set for May 25, 2014.

This was announced by the EC Chairman, tan Sri Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusof, in a press conference held after a special meeting at the EC Headquarters today.

The by-election will be held following the death of the incumbent, Karpal Singh, 74, who died in a road accident involving the MPV he was in and a lorry on the North-South Expressway near Gua Tempurung, Perak, on April 17.

A total of 82,431 people are eligible to vote for the Bukit Gelugor Parliamentary By-Election on May 25.

The electoral roll used us the Parent Electoral Roll, which was merged with the additional electoral roll 2013.

The Electoral Roll will begin to be sold on May 6.

The nomination process and ballot counting will be held in Dewan Sri Pinang, Georgetown.
