CM: Residents of Kajang reminded to think before selling land

KAJANG, 26 May: The residents of Kajang have been reminded to know the value of land in the area before deciding to sell.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said landowners sell their land without realising that the land in Kajang should be sold based on the urban land prices instead of village land prices.

“After the construction of the MRT (Sungai Buloh-Kajang MRT), the value of land in Kajang would be very high. Therefore, I want to remind the people to be patient because if they sell their land without taking this into account, they may yield a lesser profit.

“This is particularly so in terms of land that is near villages. Although Kajang is considered a city, there are also villages and they think they are selling village land. But in fact, the land sold is urban land,” he said, quoted from Sinar Harian.

In regards to this, he reminded the people of Kajang to be patient for at least five years.

“The prices in villages could be from RM15 per foot to the urban land price of RM60 per foot. So if they are impatient and find ways to obtain approval for the area to become a residential area and so on, the value obtained would be lesser.

“So, in my opinion, this progress must be enjoyed by all and they have to be careful. The period to be patient is less than five years. The MRT project will be completed in two years. But do not sell the land quickly,” he said.

Based on the office held, Abdul Khalid feels responsible for all the people in the state to know the value of their land.

“As the Chief Minister, I have (received) applications to approve the sale of land. Although I am not supposed to interfere, I feel responsible if they do not know the best value for them,” he said.
