Re-election in 35 PKR branches will be completed by the end of June

SHAH ALAM, 21 May: The Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) election, involving 35 branches where the results were previously cancelled due to some problems, is expected to be completed by the end of June.

The Chairman of the Central Election Committee (CEC), Datuk Johari Abdul, said that all these branches will hold re-elections starting May 31, and this is expected to end on June 22.

He said that 22 out of the 35 branches will begin the electoral process at all levels, by doubling all sorts of improvements throughout the polling process.

“22 branches will hold a re-electoral process at all levels and surely all improvements and weaknesses identified during the prior process will be implemented,” he said during a press conference at the PKR headquarters today.

Johari said that the re-election involves branches in Sabak Bernam, Sungai Besar, Subang, Klang, Kota Raja, Selayang, Kuala Selangor, Kapar, Ulu Selangor, Hulu Langat, Petaling Jaya (Selatan), Kelana Jaya and Shah Alam, for the Selangor level, will be held from June 7 to 22.

He explained that Shah Alam is also included in the tally despite not requiring a re-election, but it is due to some technical problems that require additions in the shortest time.

Apart from that, Johari also announced that the polling process have been postponed for all branches in Terengganu, including Setiu, Kuala Nerus, Kemaman, Dungun and Pengerang, to May 31.

The CEC will hold the same process in Tenggara, Bukit Katil and SUngai Petani on June 1.

On June 7, the process will take place in Jerantut, Paya Besar and Pasir Putih.

Subsequently, on June 8, re-elections will be held at Batang Sadong, Julau, Kapit and Sarikei.
