Teluk Intan By-Election: Dyana Sofia not afraid, “This is Dyana…”

SHAH ALAM, 15 May: “This is Dyana lah” wrote Dyana Sofia Mohd Daud, the Political Secretary to DAP Advisor, Lim Kit Siang, when responding to attacks from Umno bloggers who disseminated pictures to tarnish her reputation.

“Hundreds of abusive calls and texts received since yesterday. Save your credit. I am unfazed. This is Dyana lah.

“I did (read). That’s why I said I wish I had that body! Need to work extra hard at the gym,” she wrote on Twitter.

Dyana is among the names shortlisted by DAP to represent Pakatan Rakyat in the Teluk Intan by-election which will be held on May 31.

Although it was only a proposal, the 27-year-old Dyana is seen as representing the youth and is able to be a political threat to Barisan Nasional.

According to her, she also received rude calls and messages; however she is unfazed by the pressure.

In her writing ‘An hour with Obama’, she said that the young people should seek a platform and carefully strategise by involving themselves in organisations and movements that appreciate talent and effort.

“Young people have the power to uphold democracy by taking part, joining the movement and be decision makers. We must be aware of our capabilities, the impact we can have on the world.

“Together, we can become a force to be reckoned with,” she wrote.

Meanwhile, DAP Advisor, Lim Kit Siang, said that DAP will announce its candidate for the Teluk Intan parliamentary seat on Saturday.

The Teluk Intan parliamentary by-election will be held following the death of its incumbent, Seah Leong Peng, 48, from DAP, due to cancer on May 1.

The Election Commission has set May 19 as the nomination, May 27 for early voting and May 31 for the polling day.

In the 13th General Election, Seah, 48, defeated the candidate from Barisan Nasional, Datuk Mah Siew Keong and independent candidate Moralingam Kannan with a majority of 7,313 votes.
