Zahid should show proper commitment, not being garrulous

KLANG, 30 June: The Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Zahid Hamidi, has been challenged to repeat his statement regarding the incident where a cow’s head was found in front of the house of the DAP elected representative, RSN Rayer, in Penang.

The Member of Parliament for Kapar, G.Manivannan, said that Zahid should show proper commitment as a cabinet Minister and a Muslim.

He said that the nonchalant statement only shows that Zahid has a garrulous mouth.

“If he dares, repeat (the statement) during this holy month of Ramadan. Indicate whether this Umno leader is really garrulous or if he too fears God.

“Because if you do fear (God), do not just do this during the Ramadan, fear God every day,” he told Selangor Kini today.

He was responding to Zahid’s statement where he said the incident where a cow’s head was left in front of Rayer’s house is payback for his garrulousness.

Zahid was quoted saying that he sympathises with Rayer, but that is the price to pay for his garrulousness.

Zahid’s statement did not just invite anger from party leaders from opposition parties and Islamic non-governmental organisations (NGOs), but was also slammed by friends from the Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties.

The MCA Chairman of the Bureau of Religious Harmony, Ti Lian Ker, said that Zahid’s response will only encourage violence and cause Malaysian laws to not work.

Meanwhile, GERAKAN urged Zahid to take the incident seriously because it is no small matter as it involves the safety of elected representatives.

On 28 June, a cow’s head was found in front of Rayer’s home and it is believed to be linked to his controversial speech previously, where he called some Umno Leaders celaka (uncouth).
