KIDEX will only be built if the community is positive after the public hearing

SHAH ALAM, 14 July: The Selangor Government will not renew a land acquisition gazette for over 3,700 properties along the entire stretch of the proposed Kinrara-Damansara Expressway (Kidex)

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that the KIDEX project will only continue after the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA) holds a public hearing with the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) and the local residents.

He said that it will only be implemented when there is a positive acceptance among the residents after the hearing.

“We will only continue the efforts after the MHA conducts a briefing on the matter with the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ). We will not do it until and unless the process is complete.

“Based on our observation, and under advice by the MHA, we will only carry on to implement (the land acquisition) once there positive acceptance among residents towards Kidex,” he said when met after presenting incentives to the Selangor contingent for the SUKMA 2014 and the Iftar deast at the Silver Jubilee Hall.

Prior to this, the residents wanted the State Government to not renew the land acquisition gazette because the Kidex developer has yet to provide any document proving the need for the new highway.

KIDEX is an elevated highway project that would cross the densely populated residential area in Petaling Jaya and Puchong requires the acquisition of 300 plots of land.

The project is expected to cost RM2.2 billion for a length of 14.9 kilometres.
