A resident, Charles Lourdisamy, 40, said that the quarry and the processing plant have been operational since he settled in the area in 2006.

He said that he feels betrayed because the developers promised a quiet, peaceful and beautiful residential area.

“However, the promise was just a promise. The developers did not inform that there was a quarry in the area.

“We are tired of facing this problem. The project site has cause many problems to the local residents, including loud noises, dust and foul odour,” he told Selangor Kini today.

He said that the existence of the quarry also causes the problem of an influx of foreigners, who are workers at the quarry.

“This situation really makes our lives insecure and uncomfortable. Residents are worried with the problem of foreigners as well,” he said.

In this regard, he hopes that the relevant parties will solve the problem as soon as possible.

Previously, the residents of Taman Kajang Perdana 2 held a protest regarding the activities of the quarry site, which is located about 500 metres from their residential area.

They claimed that they had complained to the Kajang Municipal Council (MPKj) and the developer of the residential area many times, but there has been no response.

They urged the local authorities to be seriously concerned and take serious action so that the quarry is immediately closed for the safety and comfort of the residents.

It is understood that the quarry started about 23 years ago before the two-storey terraced housing was developed in the late 90’s.
