12 NGOs defend Abdul Khalid to remain as CM until the end of his term

SHAH ALAM, 20 Aug: A group of 12 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) representing the people of Selangor has launched a movement to defend the administration of the Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, until his term ends.

The Chairman of Angkatan Rakyat Sedar (ARAS), Abdul Rahim Abdul Wahab, said that the country, Pakatan Rakyat (PR) and Selangor will face a loss and face a negative impact if Abdul Khalid is rejected.

He said that PR should take on a leader that has the soul of the people and who is beneficial to the people of Selangor.

“After the PR government took over, Abdul Khalid has brought about many changed, not just in terms of material, but also important changes in political approach.

“In my opinion, Khalid does not need to be replaced. He should finish his term as the Chief Minister and prepare his replacement after this,” said Abdul Rahim, quoted from Malaysiankini.

The group of 12 NGOs announced that they will hold programmes, including peaceful rallies, sending a memorandum as well as religious programmes until the night of the national Independence Day to send a message to all parties, from the palace to the streets.

The Chairman Gerakan Anak Bugis Selangor (GRABS), Faisal Idris, said that the people in the state are questioning why Khalid, who is also the Assemblyman for Port Klang, should be replaced.

“I want to ask, why do we need to replace a good leader? Even PAS personally acknowledged that Khalid is a good leader.

“This is treason. The Kajang Move was not just a betrayal to the people of Malaysia, but also (the people) of Selangor,” he said at a peaceful gathering for the Selangor people’s uprising today.
