CM: 3rd Klang Bridge to finish in July 2016, to boost economy & property value

KLANG, 6 Aug: When the construction of the Third Sungai Klang Bridge completes in July 2016, it will increase the property value in the area, thus boosting the economic sector.

The Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim, said that the Selangor Government will give priority to this project and monitor its development until it is fully completed.

“We will always monitor the progress of this project at every stage to ensure that all features set can be achieved,” said Abdul Khalid.

He said this during the Third Sungai Klang Bridge Ground-breaking ceremony at the proposed site near Jalan Sungai Bertih today.

The ground-breaking ceremony marked the beginning of the construction of the third bridge, thus fulfilling the responsibility to complete the project which Barisan Nasional failed to execute after losing in the 12th General Election.

Meanwhile, the Director of the Public Works Department (JKR), Datuk Ir Hamizan Mohd Inzan, said that the construction of the bridge is expected to reduce traffic congestion at the two main bridges in KIang; Kota Bridge by 20 percent and Tengku Kelana Bridge by 40 percent.

Through an open tender process, Cergas Murni Sdn Bhd won the tender for the project after passing the technical evaluation at a bid of RM199,156,069.36.

Prior to this, Cergas Murni had implemented the initial survey process like measuring, the preparing of insurance and performance bonds.

The open tender process was open to the public from 19 March to 22 April and 23 contracting companies took part.

The bridge design features a yacht and a kris produced by Vast Consultants Sdn Bhd after winning a contest organised by the Selangor State Public Works Department last year.

The 2.5 kilometre Third Klang Bridge will start after the Sungai Udang/Teluk Pulai junction and end at Jalan Goh Hock Huat.
