Dual-functional lake to overcome flood and promote recreation

KLANG, 12 Sept: The Selangor State Government will be implementating the retention pond project which can be used as a lake part for recreation and overcome the problem of flooding that happens at Taman Sentosa and Bandar Puteri.

The Assemblyman for Seri Andalas, Dr Xavier Jayakumar, said that he would like to invite the public, especially local residents, to donate trees, park benches or solar lamps for the use of the residents to brighten the place.

He said to obtain further information on the donation, the public can contact the Seri Andalas State Legislative Assembly Office at 03-33744595.

Prior to that, a tree planting ceremony will be held at the 19-acre retention pond which will be made into a recreational area.

Located at Jalan Kebun, adjacent to the Bandar Puteri Klang water tank, this recreational area will be equipped with pedestrian walkways, stall sites and a carpark which will make it easier for the residents to carry out recreational activities with their families.

“A tree planting ceremony with the local residents will be held on September 21, 2014, from 4pm to 6pm.

“The public is invited to participate in the programme,” he said.
