First private ‘book van’ in Malaysia enlivens Selangor Book Fair

SHAH ALAM, 5 Sept: The public, especially fans of books, should not miss the opportunity to visit the ‘book van’ or the first mobile bookstore in Malaysia; the Mobile Book Cafe (MBC).

Its founder, Muhammad Azam Nor Anwar, said that there are many books for visitors, including books on motivation, general knowledge, Islam, encyclopedias, novels and children books for offer.

He said that visitors are also allowed to read books without having to buy it while enjoying organic coffee which is provided free.

“Our intention is to make people want to read as a culture in realising the mission of becoming a developed nation.

“Only by reading a lot can we achieve the status of a developed nation. Otherwise, it will be slow for us to reach the mission,” he told Selangor Kini when joining and enlivening the Selangor Book Fair.

MBC operates by using a modified van to allow books to be arranged like in a real bookstore.

Azam said that MBC always offers books at special prices to visitors, in contrast to normal bookstores that offer it at certain times only.

“We are also marketing books by independent publishers who find it difficult to get a place at famous bookstores.

“We provide an opportunity to local publishers compared to foreign publishers because we believe that local works are also of quality,” he said.
