CM: Freezing SMUE account follows existing practice from Khalid’s time

SHAH ALAM, 2 Oct: The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the freezing of the Senior Citizen’s Scheme (SMUE) account for the Bandar Tun Razak Parliament and the Port Klang constituency is performed according to existing practices from Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim’s time.

Insisting that he has no reason to seek revenge, Azmin said that Khalid is his friend.

“That is the policy adopted by Tan Sri himself where in 2008, our Assemblyman in Port Klang left the party and it was done by Tan Sri Khalid.

“Even when the six Exco members were sacked, it was also done by Tan Sri Khalid and I do not know about the matter but it was carried out by the administration,” said Mohamed Azmin soon after attending the Selangor Economic Action Council meeting at the State Government Secretary’s (SUK) Building today.

However, he said, the provisions for programmes under the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES) scheme are being continued for the residents in the two areas involved.

Yesterday, the Port Klang Assemblyman’s Special Officer, Faekah Husin, said that freezing the SMUE accounts for the two areas was an act of revenge against Abdul Khalid.
