During the opening ceremony, Hasbullah said that such programmes have managed to prove the Selangor government’s attentiveness in caring for the wellbeing of the people and appreciating the contributions of senior citizens in state development.

“The ‘Jom Shopping’ programme introduced by the Selangor government is most popular among the community regardless of political background, race or religion.

“It indirectly gives this group the opportunity to buy daily necessities and reduce the cost of living, which is high, in preparation for the Deepavali celebration,” he said.

‘Jom Shopping’ is a programme under the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES) agenda which was implemented by the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) state government since five years ago.
