Khalid: Oktoberfest ads false, result of editing

KUALA LUMPUR, 7 Oct: The Member of Parliament for Shah Alam, Khalid Abdul Samad, claimed that the Oktoberfest ads in some areas in the Klang Valley are false and were works of Photoshop editing.

He said that all ads installed were also planned work by parties that did not receive approval from the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA).

“There are actually no billboard advertisements. There is actually none in Shah Alam. It is a result of Photoshop editing by certain parties.

“This is because when we referred to MBSA, indeed they (MBSA) did not approve if it,” he added when met at the Parliament lobby today.

Nevertheless, Khalid added that the programme should not be prohibited it is held in the right place and does not involve the presence of Muslims.

“Islam does not prohibit non-Muslims to eat or drink what is not forbidden by their religion, but do it in an appropriate place and Muslims should not be invited to attend.

“I suggest for us to follow the way of Islam which is to not prevent, but it must be done at an appropriate place and not where there are many Muslims, such as Malay-Muslim villages, mosques, at a surau and so on,” he said, feeling that the shopping complex is appropriate for the programme.

Khalid also slammed certain parties seeking to capitalise on the issue.

“There are those that say that this is a Muslim majority country and this programme should be banned. That is not the teachings of Islam. There are some attempts to look for issues that say that the Pakatan Rakyat (PR) Government does not follow the Islamic way; they must show proof (evidence),” he said.
