PKNS ready to realise the focus on housing in the Selangor Budget 2015

KELANA JAYA, 7 Oct: As a leader in development in the state, the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) is ready to realise the focus on housing development in the Selangor Budget 2015.

The General Manager of PKNS, Azlan Md Alifiah, said that offering more affordable homes to the people of Selangor is a wise step because there is a need at the present time.

“We welcome a budget that emphasises on growth, especially in terms of offering affordable housing.

“We welcome it and there are more incentives from the State Government for PKNS to carry it out. This is a way for us to increase the number of affordable homes for the people of Selangor, especially in strategic locations,” he said at the 2014 sacrificial ritual at Kelana Jaya.

Azlan is also of the opinion that state-owned companies should play their role to develop on the focus of affordability. What is certain, he said, is that the construction site for affordable homes must be strategic, especially in terms of providing infrastructure to the residents.

Azlan said that PKNS applies the concept of ‘PWD Friendly’ in construction projects to facilitate people with disabilities (PWDs) in owning their own homes.

“In these two years, 2015 and 2016, PKNS proposes to launch at least 2,000 housing units in Kota Puteri and Science Park 2.

“We feel that in Kota Puteri for this year alone, we have launched 300 to 400 affordable housing units. Next year, there will be more units and in 2016, it will reach a total of 2,000 units,” he said.

Azlan explained that PKNS has its own budget and it will accommodate a subsidy of 30,000 to 100,000 per unit.

PKNS will also hold a ceremony to hand over the keys of 124 houses in Bangi, as well as plans to obtain planning permission for the housing project in Kota Puteri.
