Selangor Budget 2015 to focus on the issues of housing and education

HULU KELANG, 6 Oct: The Selangor State Budget 2015 will focus on the prospects of developing the people’s housing and education.

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that the state savings reserves amounting to RM3.3 billion will be spent to achieve this.

“We will focus on development programmes for the people.

“For example, infrastructure, development, (and) people’s homes.

“The main focus will be also given to housing and education,” he said during the Aidiladha celebration with the people in Hulu Kelang.

Azmin, however, added that his administration is still fine-tuning some other matters affecting the welfare of the people to be included in the budget. The final discussion to finalise the budget agenda will be held next Wednesday.

The Selangor State Budget 2015 will be tabled at the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) which will be in session in November.

Touching on the Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor (MES) programmes which have been on-going since 2008, Azmin said that he wants to continue the implementation of the programmes with improvements from time to time.

“What is most important is that all state funds must be spent for the benefit of the people of Selangor, but it must be in the form of development and welfare of the state of Selangor.

“Existing programmes will continue and it will be improved if there is a need to do so,” he said.

A total of 17 MES programmes have been introduced, including the giving of 20 cubic metres of free water, the Senior Citizen’s Scheme (SMUE), the Women’s Health Scheme and the Selangor Children’s Heritage Fund (Tawas).
