CM: State government finds best solution for PAWS land status

SHAH ALAM, 18 Nov: The Chief Minister of Selangor, Mohamed Azmin Ali, will discuss with the Petaling Land and District Office to find the best solution regarding the status of the land occupied by the PAWS Animal Welfare Society (PAWS).

According to him, a special meeting with the Petaling Land and District Office will be held tomorrow at 2.30pm, which will involve the Exco for Tourism, Environment, Green Technology and Consumer Affairs, Elizabeth Wong, and PAWS.

“We need to discuss with the authorities. For the time being, give us (the state government) the opportunity to discuss and find a solution,” he said today.

Meanwhile, the Manager of PAWS, Edward Lim, informed that they were shocked when they received a notice of offence for unlawful occupation from the Petaling District Land Division and ordered to evacuate on November 10.

He said that PAWS has occupied the land for the past 28 years and until now, they are not sure whether it is about government ownership or otherwise.

“Two years ago, we had a discussion with Sime Darby where they wanted to take back the land and we informed that there is no land to relocate.

“Sime Darby said that they would try to find land from the government but until today, there has been no news,” he told Selangor Kini.

Overall, an estimate of 280 cats and 260 dogs are placed in the PAWS Care Centre.
