Deficit of RM450 million by CM guarantees no supplementary budget

SHAH ALAM, 24 Nov: The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, assured that he will not present a supplementary budget in view that the Selangor Budget 2015, which was presented today, covers the total administrative expenses throughout the year.

Mohamed Azmin said that this is contrary to the previous practice of only allocation a part when presenting the yearly budget then later request for additional funds a few months later.

“I think that this practice is not very healthy. Take staff salaries for example, we should already know the amount required for a year.

So, why not present the total amount,” said Mohamed Azmin during a media conference after presenting the Selangor Budget 2015 themed ‘Quality Development with People at Heart’ at the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) session today.

He said that the annual budget is presented sincerely, transparently and boldly by giving exact figures without concealing with a supplementary budget later.

Mohamed Azmin today presented the overall budget of RM4.392 billion with a total expenditure of RM2.422 billion and revenue projections amounting to RM1.97 billion.

For the revenue projections for 2015, the state government has allocated RM1,288,530,000 or 53.19 percent to manage and RM1,133,970,000 or 46.81 percent for development expenditure.

Mohamed Azmin said that the management expenditure for 2015 will be reduces while the development expenditure will be increase to improve the economic activity in the state.
