Dengue: 29 premises ordered to close, 231 compounds issued this month

SHAH ALAM, 25 Feb: The Dengue Seek and Destroy Task Force showed effectiveness when the number of dengue cases in Selangor recorded a decline.

health Exco, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said that the number of cases dropped to 883 cases in the second week (7th Epid) after it was launched on February 7 compared to Epid 6 that recorded 917 cases and 1025 in the 5th Epid.

“Selangor is still under control compared to other states including Penang, which recorded an increase of 300 percent.

“According to the records, Selangor recorded an increase of 66 percent of dengue cases involving 12,427 cases registered,” she said during a press conference at the SUK Building.

Daroyah said that 231 compounds were issued on all types of premises and 126 notices were issued, with 29 premises closures.

“This special force stormed over 200,000 premises of all types in each district and 1620 were positive in mosquito breeding,” she said.

In relation to that, the mosquito breeding control enforcement will be actively carried out throughout the year.

“A maximum compound of RM500 will be charged and a stop work order or court action will be enforced for construction sites where breeding is found.

“For construction sites, legal action will be enforced in accordance with the new Act that will be enforced at the level of the Ministry of Health,” she said.

For the record, the Petaling district recorded the highest number of cases with 5967 cases, followed by Hulu Langat (2222 cases), Klang (1824 cases) and Gombak (1238 cases).
