Red Giants Manager: Star players are not everything

SHAH ALAM, 1 Mar: The player star status is not everything but the pattern of the game and team spirit should be priorities, said the Selangor Super League Squad Manager, Amirudin Shari.

He explained that this is evident when the team, nicknamed the Red Yellow Giants, managed to bind the star status team JDT recently.

“In terms of marketing, indeed having a star player has its advantages. But the game is determined by the pattern of the game and so far, we have succeeded in binding a star status team like JDT even though our players are young.

“This proves that star players are not everything for a team,” he said when contacted by Selangor Kini today.

He asked this when asked about the Selangor team’s plan for the window of opening for player transfer in April.

Amirudin explained that the decision to buy players will be decided in a discussion with the FAS President and the head coach.

“Evaluating the performance of each player is done fairly every time by looking at abilities, game performance and so on.

“When the transfer is open, God willing, if there is an important need to change players, we will change them,” said Amirudin.

The teams competing in the Malaysia League have the opportunity to buy and sell players when the chance to do so opens in April.

When commenting about the win against Felda United last night, Amiruddin congratulated players and coaches for their hard work despite having to play with 10 players.

“We faced a strong team, the league leader, with only 10 players.

“I am very excited because our team has shown improvement from game to game,” added Amiruddin.
