Nik Nazmi: Federal government affecting the entire country’s politics

SHAH ALAM, 22 May: Leaders now fail to demonstrate the leadership quality to lead the country, said the Selangor Exco for Education, Human Capital Development, Technology and Innovation, Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad.

Nik Nazmi said that the people are not rather concerned and upset to see various problems arising due to instability in the federal government’s leadership.

“Compared to during the GE-13, the people expected changed in the federal government by being optimistic, but the problems arising are increasingly worrying.

“Among the big issues that has reduced public confidence is the implementation of the goods and services tax (GST) and the 1MDB issue,” he said during a dialogue at the Darul Ehsan Institute: Permatang Pauh by-election (P044) and the Future of Malaysian Politics today.

Nik Nazmi said that leaders should take responsibility for the decision made because it involves the people.

“Leaders should be responsible in all actions so that the people do not feel that the trust given to lead has been betrayed.

“Indirectly, the issues have not only affected the federal government but the entire country’s politics has also been affected.

“However, the victory in Permatang Pauh is a positive development and a chance to prove that PR’s leadership is being increasingly recognised,” he said.
