BERSIH 4.0: The people ‘in one accord’ reject Najib

KUALA LUMPUR, 30 Aug: The PKR President, Datuk Seri Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, went on the Bersih 4.0 main stage at Dataran Merdeka and recited a line of the national anthem.

Although brief, it carried huge meaning with applause from the participants of the rally who were at the square since yesterday (August 29).

“Negaraku, Tanah tumpahnya darahku (My country, the land where my blood drips). Whose blood is this? Our blood, Malay, Chinese, Indian, Natives, Iban, Kadazan.

“This blood is not willing at all to be suppressed by despotic leaders,” she said.

Commenting on the Merdeka theme this year, what Wan Azizah said was timely because Malaysians are in ‘one accord’ in rejecting the Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Razak.

“We have shown them that we are united in demanding for Najib to step down, reject corruption and cruelty.

“Because this is the real meaning of independence for the people,” she said.

Ending her speech, she invited all Malaysians to continue to remember the sacrifice of her husband, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is currently in prison.
