SHAH ALAM, 3 AUG: The Women’s Empowerment Centre (PWB) of Selangor which help women generate economic resources continues to receive overwhelming response to this day.

The Exco of Health, Welfare, Women and Family Affairs, Dr Daroyah Alwi, said the initiative was further intensified by organising three major programmes dedicated to increasing the income of women.

3.1

She said that among the unstructured programmes include cooking and sewing classes, leadership courses, and the improvement of women’s economy.

“We are actively implementing these programmes throughout Selangor and through constituencies which will be monitored by supervisors and supported by the respective assemblymen.

“Through the allocation of RM30,000 to each PWB, they can implement a variety of programmes for women in the area,” she told Selangor Kini.

3.2

She said that the initiative would focus on all women who want to change the fate of both the urban and rural areas.

She also said that the women of Selangor are seen to have gone from strength to strength and have become more resilient as well as being able to play an important role in strengthening the country’s economic structure.

“The Selangor government will continue to help women play an optimal role to drive the family economy and that of the state.

“We will also provide the knowledge or motivational courses to them so that PWB can continue to grow in the future,” she said.

PWB was implemented in 2010 to help women become more independent and capable of generating their own income.
