Wan Azizah: Fight BN to the end

JASIN, 3 AUG: PKR leaders were urged to increase their efforts to champion justice and the fate of the people which is becoming worse following the failure of the Barisan Nasional (BN) goverment to govern the country.

PKR President, Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, said that the spirit and priority of PKR de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, in defending the people should be adopted by all leaders despite him being imprisoned.

“True, his body is now in jail but his concern for the people has never wavered.

“What is the fair price for Anwar being in prison after fighting for the rights of the people for so long.

“How can we celebrate his sacrifice, is it by a position in the party? He asked all party members to take care of the people’s trust for justice and prosperity,” she said.

She said this when speaking at the President’s Trust Tour at the Sri Impian Hotel yesterday.

Recounting the melancholic moments of every meeting with Anwar in the Sungai Buloh Prison, Wan Azizah said her husband has never complained about being imprisoned but instead, often advised party members to think about the problems of the people without worrying about his well-being.

“Our family was allowed to visit him on the fifth of Shawwal and even then, we were given only five minutes. During our conversation, we were divided by glass and pleasantries aside, Anwar still asked about the people.

“What I can say, cherish the time with loved ones. When we’re apart like this, we feel his loss,” she said.

In her message, Azizah also asked all leaders to be united in policies with Pakatan to oppose BN to then end to provide justice for the people.

“Emulate the story of Noah and his ark. We need to be together in the same boat for the same journey and purpose,” she said.

Wan Azizah arrived at 5.00pm yesterday for the President’s Trust Tour together with the Malacca PKR Leadership Council.

She was received by the Chairman of MPN Melaka, Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin and also attended by PKR Deputy President, Mohamed Azmin Ali; PKR Vice President, Dr Xavier Jeyakumar; Nurul Izzah Anwar; PKR Wanita Chief, Zuraida, and PKR information chief, Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh.
