CM: Budget 2016 focuses on developing affordable housing

BERANANG, 20 Sept: The Budget 2016 that will be tabled on October 30 will focus on development, especially the development of affordable homes (RMM).

The Chief Minister, Mohamed Azmin Ali, said that this is because the demand for RMM is still high because many people still do not own their own homes.

He said that the state reserves will be used to return to the people.

“That is why we rejected management applications, we are only using public funds for the people, not for any other uses.

“Therefore, in the Budget 2016, the development expenditure is higher than management expenditure,” he said during the groundbreaking ceremony and registration of Selangorku Homes yesterday.

Also present was the Exco for Housing, Datuk Iskandar Samad, and the Chairman of Exo World Development Group Berhad, Tan Sri Liew Kee Sin.

Mohamed Azmin said that currently, statistics show that only 40 percent of luxury housing units have been sold.

“This shows the fall in real estate value is facing market problems.

“Many developers have postponed the launch of their luxury homes.

“Therefore, the state government is always producing affordable homes even though there is a worrying economic crisis,” he said.
