SHAH ALAM, OCT 21: The haze is worsening this afternoon with Shah Alam recording an unhealthy Air Pollution Index (API) reading of 235 at 12 noon.

According to the Department of Environment (DOE), Port Klang also seems to be experiencing very unhealthy air conditions with an API reading of 201.

Air quality conditions according to API readings are as follow: API readings between 0 to 50 (good), 51 to 100 (moderate), 101 to 200 (unhealthy), 201 to 300 (very unhealthy), 300 and above (hazardous).

Meanwhile, other areas with unhealthy air quality at 12 noon are Putrajaya (194), Banting (191), Petaling Jaya (187), Kuala Selangor (153), Batu Muda (180), Cheras (154), Seremban (153), Port Dickson (109), Nilai (153), Bukit Rambai (112) and Bandar Melaka (106).

In the north, unhealthy areas according to API readings are USM (149), Seberang Perai 2 (146), Perai (122), Tanjung Malim (124), Seri Manjung (144), SK Pegoh, Ipoh (149), Kg Air Putih, Taiping (119), Jalan Tasek, Ipoh (138), Alor Setar (138), Bakar Arang, Sungai Petani (140), and Langkawi (140).

Kuching (136), Samarahan (141) and Sarikei (120) are the areas in Sarawak suffering unhealthy API readings.
