Alhamdullilah on behalf of the People’s Justice Party and Mr Anwar Ibrahim, I wish to congratulate Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister and AK Party Leader Ahmet Davutoğlu on the convincing electoral comeback victory of the AKP in the recently concluded Turkish elections.
I am happy to note that AKP has won 49.3% of the popular vote, winning a solid parliamentary majority, and that the polls were conducted in a peaceful, free and fair manner.
I pray this victory will put the recent political uncertainty to rest and Turkey will continue to provide pivotal regional leadership to address the growing instability around the region.
The victory of the AKP is a victory for the Turkish people and democracy in the Muslim world. I wish President Erdoğan and Prime Minister Davutoğlu the very best.
