Commuters urged to utilise 303 free parking lots

BY NORHAYATI UMOR

SHAH ALAM, AUG 25: Light-Rail Transit (LRT) commuters around Petaling Jaya are advised to utilise the free-parking lots provided near the Taman Jaya LRT Station.

Bukit Gasing Assemblyman, R Rajiv said that because the facility is underutilised although it has been provided by Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) for one year.

He said, the 303 lots include three for People with Disabilities, but so far it has less than five cars daily.

“Unlike in Asia Jaya LRT station, the 602 parking lots are full every day that people have to go early to get a parking lot.

“While this one is under-utilised. Perhaps people do not know about it or it is a bit far from the station,” he said to reporters.

Rajiv said, the parking area is about 700 metres to the station, which is about 5 to 7-minute walk.

“So, I think that should not be the excuse for not using the parking space here as it is not that far from the station.

“It can be an alternative parking space and accommodate the additional parking required at Asia Jaya LRT,” he said.
