SHAH ALAM, 24 OCT: The i-ADU application is launched to facilitate complaints to be made directly to the Shah Alam City Council (MBSA).

Its Head of Corporate and Public Relations Division, Shahrin Ahmad said it is one of the initiatives to improve MBSA’s delivery system for the convenience of the community.

He said it enables the process of making complaints, reviewing complaints, receiving feedback and rating solution satisfaction to be done online.

“This application also complaints to be lodged 24 hours a day and not limited to only during office hours.

“This would be convenient for the public and helps MBSA provide the best service for all,” he said.

Last October 21, i-ADU was launched by Deputy Mayor, Shukri Mohamad Hamin in conjunction with Meet Customer Day at the SACC Mall.

At the same time, the public can still submit complaints via the MBSA portal, toll-free number 1-800-88-4477, face-to-face, letters, forms and complaints on MBSA’s social media.

The i-Adu app can be loaded via Android while Appstore users can enjoy the app next year.

KUALA LUMPUR, OCT 24: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner, Tan Sri Dzulkifli Ahmad was asked to respond to speculations whether he is or not the person in a video captured in Bali.

Puchong Member of Parliament, Gobind Singh Deo said, keeping mum on the allegation is not a correct reaction, instead, he must respond.

“I ask Dzulkifli (to clarify) if it is true or not that he is the individual in the video that has been spreading, allegedly captured in Bali, Indonesia.

“He needs to respond to the speculation that the individual in question is himself and if it is not, I ask him to clarify openly.

“With a high position in MACC, he needs to do that to clear his name and himself.

“PDRM or any investigation agency must realise that their agency’s image cannot be compromised in whatever situation to ensure public’s confidence in them,” he said.

Talking during a media session at the Parliament Medai centre, he said the call is made in his capacity as a Member of Parliament as MACC was formed based on laws passed in Parliament in 2009.

Last week, a video showing a senior MACC official allegedly having an affair with a married woman was viraled by certain party.

Gobind said an MACC’s Chief Commissioner is special post under Section 5 of the Act.

“Clearly, Parliament enacted the act and formed MACC to protect and promote integrity and transparency in management in the public and private sector.

“Therefore, it becomes necessary for its officers, especially the Chief Commissioner to set a good example,” he said.

SHAH ALAM, OCT 24: The public is invited to join the Antartica Charity Run 2018 scheduled to be held in Shah Alam, on January 7, 2018.

National Expeditor, Dr Sharifah Mazlina Syed Abdul Kadir said it is to help to support the expedition mission of five women to the South Pole in November 2018.

She added that funds raised through the charity run will be channeled to the All Women’s Expedition To Antartica (AWETA) fund to support the expedition cost.

“So far, we have received encouraging response and we target to reach up to 3,000 participations,” she said at a media session.

Held at the AWETA Office, the media session was also attended by AWETA 2018 Project Director, Dato’ Noorizah Abd Hamid.

The charity run will start and end at the Karangkraf Office and categorised into two, a 5-kilometre (km) Fun Run and a 13-km run.

Particpants stand a chance to win cash prizes, unique medals and attractive prizes for the Best Antartica Costume category.

Last May, AWETA started looking for five Ice Queens in several locations such as Selangor, Johor, Terengganu and Kelantan.

Noorizah said, the top ten winners will also be eligible to enter the Ice Queen search semi-finals.

“The fisrt stage search of the Ice Queens will end by mid-January 2018 while the semi-final will be done in February 2018.

“We target 30 participants to go to the next level and they will be screened through a reality-TV programme latest by early May 2018,” she said.

KUALA LUMPUR, OCT 24: Pakatan Harapan questioned the statement made by Minister of International Trade and Industry, Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed who said that Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak’s visit to United States (US) was merely to ‘enhance his profile’ and ‘no investment deal was finalised’.

Kuala Terengganu Member of Parliament, Raja Kamarul Bahrin Shah Raja Ahmad said the statement was shocking and contradictory because based on previous media reports, it was said that the Malaysia’s visit was to help US’s economy.

“Mustapa said that no deal was signed during the Malaysian delegation’s vist to US, led by Najib, recently.

“I saw and heard the video myself where Najib said Malaysia wish to help US’s economy including investing over USD4 billion through the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) and Khazanah Nasional as well as tens of billions to purchase Boeing aircrafts.

“The question now is it the country’s profile or is it Najib’s profile, which is now badly deteriorating, that was being enhanced?” he asked.

During a media session at the Parliament Media Centre, Raja Kamarul said ‘no deals signed’ is not surprising as he claimed that Donald Trump and the US were most probably suspicious of the financial source.

“Who can trust and dare to receive money from MO1 who is being investigated in US and in seven other countries in the world?

“US would not want to be smeared with the biggest financial scandal in the world today,” he said.

SHAH ALAM, OCT 24: Dato’ Menteri Besar, Mohamed Azmin criticised Deputy Prime Minister, Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s ‘u-turn’ statement regarding Malaysia seeking Interpol’s assistance to locate Low Taek Jho or Jho Low.

Mohamed Azmin said in his Twitter account that Zahid’s attempt to twist facts is futile.

In his tweet, he had also asked if Zahid was “scolded” by his “boss”.

In Dewan Rakyat yesterday, Zahid Hamidi said that Malaysian Police has sought Interpol’s assistance to locate Low, the main individual in the 1Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB) scandal.

He was responding to a question from Mohamed Azmin, who is also Gombak Member of Parliament.

However, Zahid Hamidi had turned around and said that his speech was “manipulated” and explained that request to Interpol for assistance is no longer active as Low’s case file has been closed.

United States’ (US) investigators claimed that Low is the mastermind behind the money embezzlement from the national investment firm, 1MDB.

Mohamed Azmin had previously appealed at the Kuala Lumpur High Court to force police and Inspector-General of Police (IGP) to arrest Jho Low.

The court had however allowed an initial objection from the Attorney-General Chambers representing the police and rejected the appeal this month.

SEPANG, OCT 23: Sepang Municipal Council is having a Car-Parking Compound Payment Campaign starting from this November 1 to 30.

According to its Facebook page, the RM20 compound discount is for car-park offense and obstruction and traffic offenses.

Payments can be made at MPSepang Mobile Counter, beginning 1 November, every Monday to Thursday in certain locations.

The counters will be opened from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Among the locations involved are Medan 88 (in front of BSN and Maybank), Kosmopleks, Glomac (in front of Pelita Restaurant), Jalan Teknokrat 5 (DHL) and Lim Kok Wing.

KLANG, OCT 23: The Klang Municipal Council (MPK) has taken the initiative to plant 166 ‘Eugenia’ trees at several locations in the town in an effort to stop illegal waste dumping.

Its Yang Dipertua, Dato’ Mohamad Yasid Bidin said, the smart move was done with cooperation from Kumpulan Darul Ehsan Berhad (KDEB) and Residents’ Associations (JKP) to green the environment.

He said the programme was done to stop irresponsible parties from continuing to dump illegal waste at the sites.

“According to operation data, 154,296.25 tonnes of waste was been cleaned in Klang until September, and 28,324.49 tonnes of illegal waste was also cleaned (last January to September) and they are largely from illegal dumpsites.

“I hope this activity will inculcate the culture of maintaining cleanliness and preserving the green environment among the Klang people,” he said.

He further said that the community should act as a more sensitive and responsible citizen by contacting local authorities they see any irresponsible party illegally disposing waste.

Mohamad Yasid said, MPK appreciates JKP and council members’ commitment in helping with the tree-planting programme in 21 locations in the town.

“Of that total, 17 locations have been successfully closed and several proactive steps to reduce the problem, including enforcement actions are being enhanced from time to time.

“27 vehicles were also confiscated until last September, and 87 last year, for that offense,” he said.

KUALA LUMPUR, OCT 23: The Home Ministry (KDN) was urged to explain our Royal Malaysian Police Force (PDRM) and Interpol’s cooperation status to track businessman, Low Taek Jho or Jho Low.

The matter was mentioned by Gombak Member of Parliament, Dato’ Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali in his additional question during the oral question and answer session in Dewan Rakyat this morning.

According to Home Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, police have yet to get detailed information on the matter despite having requested from Interpol.

“We are very sure Interpol is acting professionally and PDRM still has no detail information, but we are convinced that action by certain international parties, especially intelligence agencies, have been finalised.

“We believe the case is no longer relevant unless it is raised by any dissatisfied politician,” he said.

Mohamed Azmin said, through a collaboration, PDRM can get Interpol’s assistance to detain a person and conduct investigation.

In fact, he said the matter was raised several months ago with PDRM needing Interpol’s services to identify Jho Low’s positions, as stated in many international reports.

“My question, where is PDRM’s stand in this matter?

“Will the PDRM get Interpol’s assistance to identify Jho Low’s position and extradite him to investigate the country’s largest financial scandal,” he said.

SHAH ALAM, OCT 23: Water level in several dams in Selangor are satisfactory as reported by Lembaga Urus Air Selangor (LUAS) on its official website.

According to the website, the Semenyih, Langat and Klang Gate dams are at a 100% water capacity level.

Meanwhile, the water level in the Sungai Labu Off River Storage (ORS) is 99.62% while Tasik Subang is 98.03%.

For Sungai Selangor ORS, the water level is 97.76% and Sungai Tinggi ORS is 93.89%.

Meawhile, the Batu Dam has recorded a water level of 80.34%.

SHAH ALAM, OCT 23: The Federation of Malaysian Consumer Association (FOMCA) hopes that the 2018 Budget that will be tabled this Friday will contain more initiatives for the middle-income (M40) and low-income (B40) groups, to reduce their burden on living cost.

Its Deputy President, Mohd Yusof Abdul Rahman said, as expected, the Federal Government’s budget is more of an ‘election budget’ to attract votes, however he stressed that a systematic revenue distribution is necessary.

“We certainly hope the government would take certain approaches expecially in reducing cost of living.

“This time, we hope the M40 is also the focus as they are in the same boat with B40.

“Government can reduce income tax and exempt tax for certain groups,” he said to SelangorKini.

He said, the Bantuan Rakyat 1Malaysia (BR1M) is always the most anticipated announcement at every budget presentation however he hopes that the gradual distribution is given in the form of capital so that citizens can increase household income.

“BR1M must be distributed systematically. If previously RM1,200 is given in three stages, FOMCA’s view is that it is better to give it in the form of cash and food-coupon that is redeemable at certain stores or they can keep the cash in trust funds.

“If previously there was a suggestion to use BR1M to buy Proton Iriz car for citizens to operate Uber, perhaps next year the money can be given through a food-truck purchase packages so they can operate businesses and increase their income,” he said.

SHAH ALAM, 20 OKT: The Save The Paddy and Rice Industry Action Body (PADI Rescue) is urging the Federal Government to re-establish the National Paddy and Rice Board (LPN).

PADI Rescue Coordinator, Nur Fitri Amir said that was to ensure farmers’ right are protected as well as for several improvement aspect.

He said the improvements would include LPN to have full authority, at every stage from rice seed selection to marketing, BH Online reported.

“Only entities free from commercial or profitable interests are qualified to take care of the paddy and rice industry, not private companies such as BERNAS (Syarikat Padi dan Beras Nasional Berhad) which is governed by their commercial interests.

“It is undeniable that BERNAS is successful in ensuring the company’s sustainability with millions of ringgit in profit, but the company has failed to carry out its social responsibility to further strengthen the Bumiputera’s rice factories.

“Currently, only 20 Bumiputera factories are participating in the scheme under BERNAS compared to over 200 factories before. We wonder why the number has declined when rice requirement in the country has never reduced,” he said.

Earlier, the coalition presented a 14-claims memorandum at the Bangunan Perdana Putra with the United Malay Economic Action Council (MTEM) Chief Executive Officer, Ahmad Yazid and Malaysian Malay Rice Manufacturer Association, Mussonnef Md Radzi.

Among the 14 claims included regular controls imposed on imported rice, whether legally imported or not.

Additionally, the need for the government to give wholesalers and retailers rights to the Area Farmers’ Organization (PPK).

In fact, there should be a review on paddy price subsidies structure, for all type revenue, be it for paddy being sold directly, or being used for seed or processed into rice.

SHAH ALAM, OCT 20: Low wages and the study-loan from National Higher Education Funding Corporation (PTPTN) are among the factors driving the youths in this country into debts.

The Former Deputy Director of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), Dr Rosli Yaakob said the situation has led to the rise of debt culture among the youths.

“Now, whatever they buy they need to buy in credit as their wages do not correspond to price increase of good or cost of living.

“This situation explains what BNM had announced last year on why the national household debt is 89.9 percent from Gross Domestic Product (GDP), which is among the highest in Asia,” he said when contacted by SelangorKini today.

He said, besides PTPTN loan, credit card debts are also among the highest in this country.

Nevertheless, he did not deny the practice of spending beyond means in affecting the increase in debts among some youths.

“Economic growth has not been too good in the past few years and this has caused many companies to shut down their operations, largely impacting these group of workers with debts.
