SHAH ALAM, 29 Nov: In conjunction with the Selangor AgroFest 2012 (SAF) on 11 to 16 December, a variety of exciting programs will be available including talks by the famous speaker, Ustaz Azhar Idrus and ‘Save Gaza Night’.
Agricultural Modernisation and Entrepreneurship Development Exco member, Dr Yaacob Sapari said that the State Government-sponsored program that was started last year is packed with a variety of programs and events suitable for all ages.
He said that the week-long program consists of an agricultural exhibition, ‘fun-fair’, cooking competition, sports, futsal, a concert as well as the inaugural talks.
“The SAF has also worked with Tourism Selangor to invite food entrepreneurs to sell food such as Kajang satay, ‘nasi ambeng’, ‘lontong’, and ‘cendol’,” he said during a press conference outside the Selangor State Assembly (DNS) today.
Also present were the Youth and Sports Exco, Dr Yunus Hairi, Agriculture Modernisation Deputy Exco, Shuhaimi Shafiei and Acting Director of the State Agriculture Department, Mohd Hamid Idros.
Dr Yaakob said that planning is underway to hold a 2012 SAF Run with more than 6,000 participants, as it had garnered last year.
During this programme, the State Government will also hold a ceremony to award agricultural entrepreneurs from all over Selangor such as the Crop Entrepreneur Award, Best Agro-Based Industry Award and Best Paddy Management Award.
In the meantime, entrepreneurs will have the opportunity to conduct business and cooperation between wholesalers, buyers, distributors and suppliers to promote and sell their products to a wider market.
“This is the social responsibility of State Governments to help new entrepreneurs and businesses, particularly in the areas of agriculture, agro-based industries (IAS) and small-medium enterprises (SMEs) in order to expand their business,” he said.
SAF 2012 opening ceremony will be held on December 13 and will be officiated by the Chief Minister of Selangor, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim
