People of Selangor Happy Under PR

SHAH ALAM 9th MAR : Citizens of Selangor find themselves happy with the current State Government, now led by PR for bringing multiple changes the past five years.

Housewife Jamaliah Ismail, 61 says that the State Government’s agenda of improving the administration of State and preserving the welfare of the people has come about due to the successful implementation of the ‘Merakyatkan Ekonomi Selangor’ ( Selangor’s Economy) Program.

“Last time, when people passed away, the family did not receive any monetary aid but now we do. That also from sources that we know about.”

“Revenue from the sand industry was once said to be unprofitable but now it has brought profit. From what I know, the monetary aid comes from revenue of the sand industry.”

“In terms of administration, even the Muslim teachers say that Selangor is the centre of knowledge,” she said to TvSelangor.

Muhamad Amzar, 23, a student from MARA University of Technology (UiTM) feels that the PR State Government has been able to govern Selangor well, especially in preserving harmony.

According to him, the religious forum was a praiseworthy effort held in commemoration of the fifth anniversary of the State Government as he believes such forums will shape an informed community not only in Selangor but for the country as well.

“With such scholarly celebrations like this can bring positive effect to the people, especially yound people by motivating them to keep broadening the horizons of their knowledge.”

Amzar’s opinion is shared by another UiTM student, Muhammad Hamzah, 23, who says that he receives a RM1,000 contribution through the “Anak Masuk Universiti” program which translates into child entering university, from the State Government.

“I’m happy with what I am receiving. Many benefits have come from the State Government.”< "The celebration of knowledge is now being held frequently and this is good for the people," he said at the fifth anniversary of the PR State Government at Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, last night.1d

Religious Teacher Mohd Khairi Abdullah, 45 says that the development of Islam in Selangor has had a positive effect as more and more of these programs are being held and appreciated by the people the last few years.

“The efficiency of the State Government is proof that we are on the right track.”

“Working with the ‘Ulamak’ and the ‘Umarak’ has improved the quality of administration,” he emphasised.

As for the water utility take-over by the Darul Ehsan Group, the matter has yet to be finalised.

Chief Minister, Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim said that the RM9.65 billion offer by the State is considered to be ‘incomplete’ by the other party due to the other party trying for a higher rate.

“It’s called negotiating tactics!” he said.
