State Government Provides Incentive To Cycling Athlete

SHAH ALAM, 25 Mar: The State Government will provide an incentive of RM15,000 to the teenage racer, Muhammad Firdaus Mohd Zonis, who recently won a gold medal in the Asian Cycling Championship (ACC) 2013 in New Delhi.

This was announced by Malay Customs and Youth and Sports Exco, Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi in a press conference after the Exco meeting at the State Secretariat Building today.

According to Dr Ahmad Yunus, the incentive is compatible to Muhammad Firdaus’s outstanding achievment in the 200 metre individual sprint.

“We will provide an incentive of RM15,000 to the winner of the gold medal, RM10,000 to the winner of the silver medal and RM5,000 to the winner of the bronze medal.

The incentive presentation will be held in a formal ceremony in May and will be attended by DYMM the Sultan of Selangor,” he said.

Muhammad Firdaus, 17, defeated South Korean cyclist, Jung Jea-Hee in the 200m individual sprint at the velodrome at the Indira Ghandi Sports Complex.

The victory added to his gold medal collection earned during the 1 kilometre individual time trial.
