SHAH ALAM, July 26: To relieve the burden of the poor, the Batu Tiga Women’s Empowerment Centre (PWB) distributed clothes donated by the public to 60 individuals in the Shawwal Caring Programme in conjunction with this year’s Aidilfitri (Eid al-Fitr) celebration.

Batu Tiga PWB Supervisor, Aminah Ismail said that the clothing were old clothes contributed by the public and restored and cleaned by PWB members to make them seem “new”.

“This is the first time the programme is being held in conjunction with Aidilfitri celebration. We want to strengthen ties among the community and solve the problems of the less fortunate and poor.

“We want them to feel appreciated and enjoy Aidilfitri with joy,” she told TVSelangor today.

The clothing was presented to selected individuals by the Exco in charge of Welfare and Women’s Affairs, Rodzih Ismail in a ceremony at the Batu Tiga PWB here today.

Aminah said that the Rodziah came up with the idea herself as she is attentive to the needs of the poor in the area.

She said that the programme was made possible by PWB members through mutual cooperation and help of the community.

“PWB will continue programmes like this in the future. Maybe we will sew the clothes ourselves and give it to the less fortunate,” she added.
