(UPDATE) 10,000 People Flood Kajang Stadium, Reformation 2.0

(UPDATE) KAJANG, 21 Mar: The Kajang Stadium made history today with echos from the cry for reformation from people from all walks of life, especially Pakatan Rakyat supporters during the Reformation 2.0 launch.

About 10,000 people were present to express support for Pakatan following protests against the court’s decision to imprison the reformation leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Their presence was also fuelled by opposition of the court’s decision to disqualify Karpal Singh as a Member of Parliament, in addition to showing support in the Kajang by-election.

Initially, there were around 5,000 people present, but the number continued to increase when the people realised that Anwar would be speaking at the end of the programme.

Among the main leaders of Pakatan who spoke vocally were Datuk Husam Musa, Mohamed Azmin Ali, Rafizi Ramli, Datuk Saifuddin Nasution, Tian Chua and many more.

Also seen at the side of the main stage was Nurul Izzah Anwar, Khalid Samad, and even National Laureate, Datuk A. Samad Said, expressed unconditional support.

Even though they were each given about three minutes to voice objections, the stage was unfailing with brilliant oratory and spirit.

People – Malays, Chinese, Indians, from all walks of life, unfailingly shouted slogans of reform and inference, recognising the brutality committed by Umno-BN against Anwar.

The call for reform increased when Dr Wan Azizah, also the Kajang by-election candidate, gave a touching speech.

The highlight of the programme was a protest against the judiciary institution when the stadium lights were momentarily turned off, but the atmosphere remained bright with lights from the people’s mobile phones.

It was to symbolise the dark times in the judiciary institution in this country, but it was still ‘bright’ through the upraising of the people from all walks of life.

Apart from them, thousands of people who were unable to attend the launch followed the live broadcast through http://tv.selangorku.com
